What we cover (and what we don’t)

Covered

  • Dry or wet dog food (standard brands)

  • Limited treats (training/small value)

  • Basic supplies if needed once (bowl, leash, poop bags)

Special diets

  • Allergies/medical diets: Note it on your application. We’ll try to match a safe option or ask your vet for alternatives.

Not covered

  • Luxury items, bulk stockpiling, routine grooming, toys, or long-term recurring orders.

How it works

  1. Apply online (≈10 minutes). Tell us your dog’s size/diet and your pickup/delivery preference.

  2. Review (24–72 hrs). Urgent cases may be faster.

  3. Plan pickup/delivery. We place a store order for you, coordinate with a partner pantry, or arrange shipping when possible.

  4. We pay the vendor, and you’ll receive a text/email with pickup or tracking details.

What to upload (if you have it)

  • Proof of hardship (one item: unemployment/benefits letter, medical bill, eviction/notice, disaster report)

  • Proof you own the dog (vet record, microchip, adoption paperwork, or clear photos)

  • Diet or allergy info (photo of the current food bag or vet note helps)
No perfect paperwork? Apply anyway. Screenshots are OK.

Typical amounts (so you know what to expect)

Support is meant to bridge a crisis—usually 1–3 weeks of food. Amounts are adjusted by dog size, number of dogs, and diet.

  • Small dog (under 25 lb): ~4–7 lb dry food equivalent

  • Medium (25–50 lb): ~7–12 lb

  • Large (50–90 lb): ~12–18 lb

  • Giant (90+ lb): ~18–24 lb
Wet food is matched as close as possible by calories/servings.

Pickup, delivery, or shipping

  • Retail pickup: We place a prepaid order at a nearby store; you’ll get the order name/number.

  • Partner pantry: Pick up at a local partner site during open hours.

  • Delivery/Shipping: Case-by-case (availability and funding dependent). We’ll text you tracking or delivery info.

Fair use & limits

To serve as many families as possible:

  • Food aid is short-term and subject to funding/availability.

  • You may reapply after 90 days if circumstances change.

  • Program caps align with our overall assistance policy; we prioritize urgent needs and first-time applicants.

  • We do our best; substitutes may be used if your brand isn’t available.

  • We’ll text/email pickup details or shipping updates once we place the order.
