Second Leash Foundation provides emergency pet food directly to families facing financial hardship across all 50 states.

Whether it is a sudden job loss, a medical crisis, or a month where the bills simply did not leave enough, we step in so a family never has to choose between feeding themselves and feeding their dog. 

Food assistance is the first line of intervention. For many families, it is the only help they need to get through a temporary crisis and come out the other side with their dog still home. 

What This Program Covers 

• Dry and/or wet dog food

• Temporary food support during financial crisis

• Case-by-case extended assistance for ongoing hardship

• All 50 states, no geographic restriction 

Who Can Apply

Any dog owner in financial hardship. Job loss, reduced income, loss of benefits, medical crisis, or any temporary situation that makes regular dog food unaffordable.

Applications reviewed within 48 hours.

Urgent situations can be approved same day.
