The 48-Hour Emergency Fund™
A dog hits the euthanasia list. We have 48 hours.
Second Leash Foundation monitors the 72-hour euthanasia lists at Dallas-area shelters. When a dog needs an outcome, we have 48 hours to fund one of three options:
Connect the dog with an adopter.
Coordinate a rescue pull.
Fund emergency boarding while a home is found.
Every activation is posted publicly. Real dog. Real name. Real countdown.
$35 keeps a dog alive for one more night while we find their home.
How it works
Six steps from the alert to the outcome.
Alert — A dog hits the euthanasia list at a Dallas-area shelter.
Notification — Second Leash Foundation receives the alert through partnership channels.
Public post — We post the dog publicly: name, photo, countdown.
Funding — Donors fund the emergency boarding or adoption fee in real time.
Rescue — The dog is pulled to a boarding facility, matched with an adopter, or transferred to a rescue partner.
Outcome — The dog lives. The story is told. The next one begins
Every Dog Saved Has a Name
This is not an abstract fund. Every activation has a face, a name, and an outcome. When you give to the 48-Hour Emergency Fund, you will see exactly which dog your gift saved.
Donate to the 48-Hour Emergency Fund
Every dollar in this fund has a face on it.
$35 — One more night.
