Second Leash Foundation provides short-term, limited assistance to help families keep their pets during temporary financial hardship.

Due to limited funding and high demand, assistance is not guaranteed. Applications are reviewed based on eligibility, urgency, location, and available funds.

Second Leash Foundation:

  • Is not an emergency service

  • Cannot provide same-day or immediate assistance

  • Cannot assist every applicant

Incomplete applications or missing documentation will not be reviewed.

  • Veterinary Assistance (Nationwide, non-emergency)

  • Pet Adoption Support (Limited, case-by-case)

  • Senior Guardian Support (Case-by-case)

  • Temporary Boarding (Dallas area only)

Services are provided only while funding is available.

Eligibility Guidelines

You may be eligible if:

  • You are experiencing temporary financial hardship

  • Your pet is currently in your care

  • You can provide requested documentation

  • Your request aligns with our current programs

Priority may be given to cases where assistance helps prevent pet surrender.
