Pet Damage Protection Fund™
No-pet leases are one of the most overlooked barriers to dog adoption in Dallas. We are removing them.
Tens of thousands of renters want to adopt a dog and cannot. Not because they lack love or space, but because their lease says no.
Second Leash Foundation operates a certified Pet-Friendly Landlord Network. Property owners who join agree to allow dogs in their units.
In exchange, they receive access to the Pet Damage Protection Fund — a reserve that covers legitimate pet damage claims up to a defined limit per tenancy. The landlord’s financial risk disappears.
The renter can adopt. The dog finds a home. Everyone wins.
How it Works:
A property owner joins the Second Leash Foundation Certified Pet-Friendly Landlord Network.
They agree to allow dogs in their units.
If a tenant’s dog causes legitimate damage at move-out, the landlord submits a claim with documentation.
. Second Leash Foundation reviews and pays up to the defined cap directly to the landlord or repair provider.
The landlord’s risk is covered. The renter keeps their dog. The next renter can have one too.

For Corporate Sponsors: The Pet Damage Protection Fund is a named sponsorship opportunity — and the anchor that makes this entire program possible.
Unlike our other programs, which are funded case-by-case, the Pet Damage Protection Fund requires a reserve. A pool of money sitting ready to pay legitimate claims the moment a landlord files one. That reserve is what gives landlords the confidence to say yes to dogs, and what gives renters the ability to finally adopt.
Your company can fund that reserve.
What your sponsorship delivers:
Your company's name on the Certified Pet-Friendly Landlord Network

Co-branded social media content tied to every landlord who joins and every dog who finds a home because of it
