Shelter to Home Initiative™

Not the adoption fee organization. The organization that removes every barrier between a dog and a home.

⭐The Shelter to Home Initiative™ is Second Leash Foundation's complete response to the shelter crisis.

While our other programs prevent dogs from entering shelters, this program ensures that dogs already in shelters face every barrier removed,
the fee, the fear, the landlord, the clock.

We built the Shelter to Home Initiative™ around one question: what actually stops a willing family from adopting a shelter dog? The answer is never just the adoption fee. It's the euthanasia clock. The landlord's no-pet policy. The employer who won't help. The dog returned because the placement wasn't right.

We built a program for all of it.

When a dog hits the 72-hour euthanasia list at Dallas Animal Services, Second Leash Foundation gets an alert. We have 48 hs found. Every activation is posted publicly.

$35 keeps a dog alive for one more nigours to fund an outcome — an adopter, a rescue pull, or emergency boarding while a home iht while we find their home.

Real dog. Real name. Real countdown.

Adoption Fee Assistance

Second Leash Foundation pays adoption fees directly to shelters and rescue organizations on behalf of adopters who face financial barriers.

Available to qualifying applicants across all 50 states. Funds are paid directly to the shelter, never to the adopter.

The fee should never be the reason a dog stays in a shelter

Pet Damage Protection Fund

Turning “no pets” into “yes” - one landlard at a time

No-pet leases are one of the most overlooked barriers to dog adoption. Tens of thousands of renters want to adopt a dog and cannot, not because they lack love or space, but because their lease says no.

Second Leash Foundation operates a certified ⭐Pet-Friendly Landlord Network. Property owners who join agree to allow dogs. In exchange, they receive access to the Pet Damage Protection Fund, a reserve that covers legitimate pet damage claims up to a defined limit.

The landlord's financial risk disappears. The renter can adopt. The dog finds a home.

Are you a landlord?

Are you a renter looking for pet-friendly housing?

Employer Adoption Match

The Employer Adoption Match program partners with companies to match employee adoption fees as charitable contributions. The employee's adoption is covered. The company makes a tax-deductible donation. The dog finds a home.

Every placement is a story, a named employee, a named dog, and a company that made it possible.

Your employer funds your adoption. You bring home a shelter dog.

What if the adoption does not work out?

The dog goes to a boarding facility, not back to a shelter. That is our promise.

Any adopter who takes a dog from any shelter gets access to the Foser Safety Net for the first 30 days. If the adoption genuinely does not work, Second Leash Foundation funds up to 30 days of boarding at a partner facility while we find the right home.

| No adoption ends at a shelter. Ever.
